“And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to him than a whole flock of sparrows” Luke 12:7 (NLT).

One of the most often repeated themes in the Bible is worry and fear (or more accurately, don’t worry and don’t fear). I believe the reason these two themes are repeated so often is because God knows the human heart and how, because of the effects of sin, it is often filled with fear. But, my friends, I have wonderful news for you: God is in control, and again and again He assures us that we have nothing to worry about. Why? Because He is in control.

This verse makes it abundantly clear that not only does God care for the big things in our lives like salvation, but He also cares for the tiny details, the things that are important only to us. So, if God cares enough to keep track of the hairs on our head, we can rest assured that He cares about every single detail in our lives, and He cares enough to do something about those things.

When I begin to think that something is too small to bring to God in prayer, I remember this verse and its assurance that God counts the very hairs on my head, so surely He cares for and takes care of the other details in my life; nothing is too big or too small for Him.

So, knowing this, we must ask ourselves: If the great God of the universe really does care that much about us, if He truly concerns Himself with every detail of our lives, what exactly do we have to fear?

“if you would My disciple be;

take up your cross with willing heart
